Our Utility Associates play an integral role in the success of our store. Utility Associates interact with our customers providing superior customer service in providing assistance to customers that need help with heavy merchandise, cleanliness of the store, stocking, and many other activities to maintain the operation of our stores.
$15.75 – $15.75 per hour, Medical Benefits available after 90 days (60% paid by company-40% by employee), I.R.A. retirement plan available after 1st year, 80hrs. vacation after 1st year based on full time position (40hrs. per week), 6 paid holidays + Paid Birthday time off, Washington State required minimum paid sick leave (1hr. per 40hrs. worked – Maximum of 40hrs per year), 20% discount on purchases.
Position is responsible to assist customers by taking purchases from store to
vehicles in parking areas; respond to customers; assist other staff; clean floor
and restrooms; collect carts; repackage bulk products: and perform miscellaneous
tasks assigned by supervisors.
SIGNIFICANT JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
To provide customer service by smiling, greeting and thanking all customers.
To respond to customer questions/requests and explain store policies in a
To assist taking customers purchases quickly to vehicles insuring that vehicles
are not overloaded, and the merchandise is not damaged.
To clean store floors, check lanes, carts, restrooms, and parking lot. Safely
use cleaning equipment and chemicals.
To assure the safety of self, customers and co-workers by understanding and
practicing store safety rules and notifying a supervisor of any potential hazard
immediately (water, broken containers, floor mats).
To perform miscellaneous tasks assigned by supervisors and managers,
substituting for absent workers and performing any additional tasks necessary to
provide products and services to customers during peak periods of business.
To bring shopping carts into the store from the parking lot so that NO carts are
left on the lot.
To remove trash from throughout the store.
To return merchandise not wanted by customers to their location on the shelf.
To change signs, banners and AD in the front/interior of the store.
To assist cashiers by removing bottom-of-cart items.
To re-package bulk products.
Respond to cashiers call for assistance within 30 seconds.
Perform all daily tasks in a timely manner.
Report directly to the Store Manager, Lead Utility and/or Cashiers.
Basic mathematical ability (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
Able to give/receive complex verbal instructions/descriptions to/from
supervisors/co-workers concerning store policy/procedures and use of equipment.
Able to lift over 50lbs.
A stable work and educational history.
The ability to read and write English. Able to read instructions, labels,
numbers, printed paper and forms.
Make judgments concerning customer interaction and the bagging of purchases.
Good interpersonal communication skills.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience in a related type of job.
Prior experience operating a garbage compactor, cleaning/sanitation equipment
Inside and outside work with variations in heat/cold/dust/humidity.
Exposure to all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, sun, ice, and wind).
The employee will not use drugs or alcohol on the job.
The employee will not create a direct threat to the health and safety of others
on the job.
Position is Full Time (32-40hrs)
