Time to start geraniums, petunias and impatiens indoors from seed.

Dormant spraying can be done when temperature is above 40°F. It should be done before new growth shows.

Begin bringing in bulbs that were potted last fall such as tulips, hyacinths and narcissi. Start them in a 60°-65°F temperature. Make sure roots are well developed.

Pruning deciduous shrubs, fruit trees, flowering shrubs, and grapes is timely. Leave roses until later in spring.

Seeds of hardy annuals, such as garden peas and sweet peas, should be sown outdoors.

Indoors, seeds of perennials or tender annuals should be started and later planted outdoors.

Gloxinia or tuberous begonias should be started indoors for later use (inside or outside) after the danger of frost is over.

Apply crabgrass control just as the forsythia begin to bloom.

Apply pre-emergent weed control and soil sterilizers.

Dormant spray fruit and nut trees before the buds show color.

Start indoors tomato, pepper, geranium seeds.

Start cold crops (broccoli, cabbage, kale, etc.) indoors.

Plant lettuce, radish, pea seeds in outdoors when soil is workable.

Plan garden areas and landscaping.

Make sure they are well mulched, well watered, and not allowed to dry out.

Set the stakes as the dahlias are planted so there will be no damage to the roots later.
