Northwest Seed & Pet has drafted this document, which details how we gather and disseminate information, in an effort to demonstrate our strong commitment to online privacy. The information we collect about you is to provide you with a personalized browsing & shopping experience. We may also use it to tell you about special offers that we think you'd appreciate if you are subscribed to our newsletters. You'll never have to worry about receiving a barrage of unexpected email from us if you have not subscribed with us. We will not sell, rent or trade your information. Northwest Seed & Pet reserves the right to make changes to this Site and Policies at any time. Each time you use this Site, you should visit and review the then current Policies that apply to your transactions and use of this Site.  If you do not agree to be bound by the then current Polices, your sole remedy is not to use this Site. Please contact us if you have any questions about our privacy policy.

 

We use your internet protocol (IP) address for several reasons; to help diagnose problems with our server, to administer our Web site, to help identify you and your shopping cart, and to gather broad demographic information, such  as your computer's operating system, and browser type. Except in the case of IP addresses, this technical information cannot be used to identify you personally. Further, we do not normally use IP addresses to identify anyone. We may do so, however, to identify abuse to our website or other unauthorized activities.

 

When you visit Northwest Seed & Pet, small text files known as "cookies" will be stored on your computer’s hard drive. A cookie allows us to enhance and customize your online shopping experience and improve the design of our site. These cookies store random ID numbers and information about your first and last visits, number of visits, shopping cart contents, billing and shipping address, but does not include credit card numbers. You may set your web browser to notify you when you receive a cookie and you may also erase cookies from your browser after your shopping session. If you delete our cookies, you limit our ability to personalize Northwest Seed & Pet for your next shopping visit; however, deleting a cookie will not prevent you from shopping and purchasing at our site in the future. Remember cookies are stored on your computer not ours. We only have access to the cookies when you visit our site and – cookies do not allow us to track you or view what is on your computer.

 

Northwest Seed & Pet registration area requires customers to supply contact information, such as name and e-mail address, and demographic information, such as your ZIP code or age. We use this information to send you promotional materials from our company and from some of our partners. However, users may opt out of or opt in to these promotional email messages at the time of registration or at any time. (See Opt Out/Opt In, below)

 

We also collect demographic and profile data that we use to tailor your experience at Northwest Seed & Pet, this information does not reveal your personal identity. Based on this information, we display products and content we feel you might be interested in. What type of pet you're interested in, for example. We use this sort of information for editorial and personalization purposes, and occasionally for other internal purposes (maybe we'll show bird owners a certain ad, for example) but we do not connect it to any name, address or other personal identifying information. This way we can give you customized information without compromising your privacy.

 

When you place an order Northwest Seed & Pet requests billing information such as contact information, credit card type, credit card number, expiration date, and demographic information.  If your order is to be shipped, we also need the name, address and phone number of the intended recipient(s). The contact information you provide is used to fulfill and send you orders, track your orders, and send company information and promotional material from Northwest Seed & Pet or our partners. You can opt out or opt in of these promotional materials at any time. (See Opt Out/Opt In, below.)

Your financial information is used for the sole purpose of billing you for products and services. Demographic data is collected to personalize future visits by displaying the content we feel would interest you most.

 

We do not rent, sell, or exchange your names or personably identifiable information to third-party companies for their marketing purposes. We do provide your information to reputable organizations that help us to fulfill your order. For example, we use companies to verify and process credit card transactions and to deliver packages. We may share information with others who help us analyze sales data, maintain our records, and provide other services for Northwest Seed & Pet.

We may be required to disclose your personal information to third parties if necessary to comply with applicable laws, subpoenas, or court orders.

Data collected by these third-parties will be covered under the third-party's Privacy Policy agreement.

To participate, you usually must supply us with your true identity, and demographic information which you agree to have publicly associated with your submission. The exact rules vary from case to case, and will be noted clearly on the relevant pages. Your participation will always be voluntary and knowing. Northwest Seed & Pet may use this data to send you information about the company or its partners. We might use this information to contact you as necessary. Northwest Seed & Pet offers the ability to post user reviews. Please note that information that is disclosed in these arenas becomes public. Use caution in disclosing any personal information.

 

Databases employed are protected with various physical, technical and procedural measures and access to your information by unauthorized persons is restricted. Your information is maintained behind a software and hardware firewall to isolate them from access by other networks connected to the Internet. We also advise all Northwest Seed & Pet employees about their responsibility to protect customer data and we provide them with appropriate guidelines for adhering to our company’s business ethics, standards, and confidentiality policies.

All information transmitted through Northwest Seed & Pet is stored on secure servers leased by us. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology is used, which is the electronic commerce standard for securing information as it travels over the Internet. SSL technology is designed to encrypt your information, preventing an unauthorized party from viewing and downloading your information.

To check the security of your connection, when using certain portions of our website like our Checkout and My Account features, look at the bottom of your browser window after accessing the server. If you see an unbroken key or a closed lock (depending upon your browser), SSL is active. You can also double-check by looking at the URL line of your browser. When accessing a secure server, the first characters of the site address will change from "http" to "https." (Please note: some versions of browsers and some firewalls don't permit communication through secure servers, so you would be unable to connect to our servers to place an order.)

 

The safety of children is very important to us. Although this Site is intended for use by persons at least 13 years of age, Northwest Seed & Pet can not prohibit minors from visiting our Site and must rely on parents and guardians (at least 18 years of age at time of use) to decide which materials are appropriate for children under 13. We do not collect or use any online contact information or identifiable off-line contact information about a child without parental consent. We do not distribute personally identifiable information about children without parental consent. We do not give children the ability to post or distribute personal information without prior consent. We do not entice children with games or contests that would encourage them to disclose personal information. If Northwest Seed & Pet knowingly collects personally identifying data from children, we will use it for internal purposes only. We will not post it, publish it, or supply it to any third parties. For certain purposes we may use anonymous, aggregated data about our users. Kids' information may be included in this aggregated data, but will not be personally identifiable.

 

You may opt to subscribe to our newsletter/mailing lists, we will ask for some contact information, such as your name and email address. We will use this contact information to send you our newsletters.

Northwest Seed & Pet sends subscribed users regular newsletters and occasional promotional offers. However, Northwest Seed & Pet allows users to opt out of receiving e-mail from us or our partners. To opt out of our mailing list Please first Log In and then select JOIN - UNJOIN MAILING LISTS at the middle left side of the page, then select “Unsubscribe from our newsletter”, enter the email address you used to subcribe with and then click the "Unsubcribe" button.  You can also, Contact Us and ask us to remove you from our mailing list.

 

Northwest Seed & Pet allows you to change or modify your personal information. Please first Log In and then select My Account at the top left corner of the page, then select “Edit”. When finished select “Save” to finalize your changes.

 

Northwest Seed & Pet sometimes provides links to other companies’ websites. Unless we expressly say otherwise, a link to another website does not mean that we are responsible for, or that we endorse the content or policy of that website. When you provide information at one of those sites, you are subject to that site’s privacy policy. We encourage you to read that website’s policy before submitting any information if you have concerns about how information may be collected or used.

 

Email, in general, is not a secure form of communication, and can be intercepted as it travels across the Internet. DO NOT send credit card numbers or other sensitive information via email.
